The Supplication
اللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِيْ مِنَ التَّوَّابِيْنَ وَاجْعَلْنِيْ مِنَ الْمُتَطَهِّرِيْنَن
Allahumma aj'alni min at-tawwabina wa aj'alni min al-mutatahhirin
"O Allah, make me among those who are constantly repentant, and among those who are physically and spiritually pure."
Significance of the Dua
This powerful dua after wudu captures two essential spiritual states that every Muslim should strive for:
- Constant Repentance (Tawbah): Seeking Allah's forgiveness regularly and turning back to Him after mistakes
- Complete Purification (Taharah): Maintaining both physical cleanliness and spiritual purity
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that after completing proper wudu and reciting the two shahādahs, one may recite this dua to seek these noble states.
Wudu is not merely a physical cleansing ritual but a spiritual renewal. Each time we perform wudu, we have the opportunity to wash away minor sins and renew our commitment to Allah.
At what age should children start learning this dua?
Children can begin learning short duas like this as soon as they start performing wudu, typically around age 7. Start with the Arabic pronunciation and gradually explain the meaning. By age 10, most children can memorize it fully.

What's the best way to correct pronunciation?

- Mirror example: Wrong actions fog our spiritual mirror - repentance cleans it
- Storytelling: Share age-appropriate stories from Quran and Sunnah about purification
- Practical connections: Relate it to being honest, sharing, and helping others
- Visual aids: Use clear and cloudy water to represent pure and impure states
