Top 5 Duas for Children Every Muslim Parent Should Teach

Build your child's connection with Allah through powerful daily Duas

As Muslim parents, one of the greatest gifts we can give our children is the ability to turn to Allah ﷻ in every situation. Teaching them meaningful Duas not only nurtures their spirituality but also provides comfort and clarity in life’s ups and downs. In this guide, we’ll explore five essential Duas every Muslim child should learn early on.

1. Du'a for Parents

"رَّبِّ ٱرْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِى صَغِيرًۭا"

رَبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا

Meaning: “My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small.” (Surah Al-Isra 17:24)

This beautiful Du'a teaches children gratitude and love for their parents, emphasizing respect and kindness from an early age.

2. Du'a Before Sleeping

Meaning: “In Your name, O Allah, I live and I die.”

Instilling this Du'a in your child’s bedtime routine strengthens their tawakkul (trust) in Allah ﷻ and brings peace to their heart.

3. Du'a for Knowledge

Meaning: “My Lord, increase me in knowledge.” (Surah Taha 20:114)

This short but powerful Du'a inspires a love for learning and sets the intention that all knowledge comes from Allah.

4. Du'a of Prophet Ibrahim عليه السلام for Children

Meaning: “My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous.” (Surah As-Saffat 37:100)

Teach your children that this is a prophetic Du'a made by Prophet Ibrahim عليه السلام, reminding them that children are a blessing and should be raised with righteousness in mind.

5. Du'a for Protection

Meaning: “I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.”

Perfect for mornings, evenings, or when feeling scared, this Du'a gives children a sense of divine protection and reassurance.

These Duas are a great starting point to nurture your child’s Islamic identity. Teach them with love, consistency, and explanation. Duas become powerful when children understand their meanings and contexts.
